  • Kilimanjaro Mountain

The Shira Route is one of the less crowded and more remote routes on Mount Kilimanjaro. It approaches the mountain from the western side and begins at a higher altitude compared to other routes. This makes it a scenic and adventurous option, offering stunning views of Shira Plateau, Kibo Peak, and vast alpine landscapes.

The route passes through diverse ecological zones including moorland, alpine desert, and glacier zones before reaching Uhuru Peak (5,895m). The Shira Route is ideal for trekkers who want a quieter experience with dramatic scenery and a strong sense of wilderness.

However, because the trek starts at a high elevation, proper acclimatization is very important to reduce the risk of altitude sickness..
