The Lemosho Route 10-Day Climb is a scenic and gradual itinerary designed to provide excellent acclimatization and a relaxed pace. Starting from the western side of Mount Kilimanjaro, the route passes through rainforest, moorland, the Shira Plateau, alpine desert and the high-altitude summit zone before reaching Uhuru Peak.
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will be warmly welcomed by a MaxKiliDreamTours representative and transferred to your hotel in Moshi. After check-in and a delicious meal, you will meet your mountain guide for a detailed trekking briefing and equipment check.
After breakfast, drive to the Lemosho Gate where registration and park formalities are completed. The trek begins through the lush rainforest, where you may encounter monkeys and enjoy the peaceful surroundings before reaching Mti Mkubwa Camp.
Today you leave the rainforest behind and enter the moorland zone. The trail gradually climbs toward the Shira Plateau, offering beautiful views of the surrounding landscape and Mount Kilimanjaro.
You cross the beautiful Shira Plateau on a relatively gentle trail. This day provides additional time for acclimatization while enjoying panoramic views of Kibo Peak and the surrounding highlands.
Today the trail continues deeper into the high-altitude landscape. You climb gradually toward the northern side of Kilimanjaro, passing through alpine desert terrain before reaching Moir Camp
Today is dedicated to acclimatization. You will take a shorter hike around the surrounding high-altitude landscape before returning to camp. This additional day allows your body to adjust before moving toward the higher sections of the mountain.
You leave Moir Camp and continue toward Lava Tower, reaching approximately 4,630 m. After spending time at higher altitude, you descend toward Barranco Camp, following the important “climb high, sleep low” principle.
After breakfast, you tackle the famous Barranco Wall. With assistance from your experienced guide, you navigate the rocky sections before continuing through alpine desert toward Karanga Camp.
Today you trek toward Barafu Base Camp through the alpine desert. After arriving at Barafu, you will have an early dinner and rest while preparing for the midnight summit attempt.
You begin your summit attempt around midnight. The trail leads toward Stella Point and then along the crater rim to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa at 5,895 m. After reaching the summit and taking photographs, you descend through the southern slopes to Mweka Camp for a well-earned rest.
After breakfast, descend through the rainforest to Mweka Gate. After completing the park formalities and receiving your summit certificate, you will be transferred back to Moshi.
