Itinerary

Your adventure begins at Machame Gate after registration with the park authorities. The trail passes through dense rainforest filled with unique vegetation, birds, and wildlife. The climb is gradual and enjoyable, offering a great introduction to Kilimanjaro.

Leaving the rainforest behind, the trail enters the moorland zone with spectacular views of Mount Meru and the Shira Plateau. The landscape becomes more open, allowing climbers to appreciate the vastness of Kilimanjaro.

This important acclimatization day takes you to Lava Tower before descending to Barranco Camp. The "climb high, sleep low" approach helps your body adjust to altitude while enjoying dramatic alpine desert scenery.

The day begins with climbing the famous Barranco Wall. After enjoying magnificent views from the top, continue through ridges and valleys before arriving at Barafu Camp. Here you rest and prepare for the summit push.

Frequently Asked & Question

The Machame Route has one of the highest summit success rates on Kilimanjaro because it provides good opportunities for acclimatization.

All climbers stay in mountain tents at designated campsites along the route. Tents are provided and set up by the mountain crew.

The highest point is Uhuru Peak at 5,895 meters (19,341 feet), the highest point in Africa.

A good level of fitness is recommended. Regular walking, hiking, running, or cardiovascular exercise before the trek will help improve your experience.
